

THE ROLE This role is to lead the Business Development function to deliver profitable and sustainable growth. The post-holder is required to develop new, and increase existing, revenue streams by enhancing current services. The role requires broad experience of the UK energy, environment and water sectors. The post-holder role will be responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships and for the effective management of the Business Development team. A strong awareness of the information security is essential in order to develop cross-selling approaches to our client base. The role is part of the Management Team and the post-holder reports into the Chief Executive.
RESPONSIBILITIES •Act as a role model and demonstrate effective leadership across the company and to the Business Development team; •Lead on the planning and delivery of the annual sales strategy; •Contribute to the delivery of the three-year strategic plan; •Demonstrate proficiency in the sales cycle through full knowledge of product and service capability; •Manage and track progress for sales pipeline forecasts, and their contribution to the Profit and Loss targets; •Lead the development of business propositions to new and existing clients; •Seek and exploit networking opportunities with industry stakeholders; •Attend industry events, build strategic relationships to enhance overall brand capital and opportunities to secure new business; •Direct all sales activities to deliver profitable growth, utilising delivery and consultancy resources to maximise and exploit sales opportunities; •Manage existing client relationships and look for opportunities to further develop in order to maximise value; •Line manage the Business Development team, coaching staff members to ensure focus on achieving sales targets; and •Oversee marketing strategy and provide support and strategic direction to grow the Company’s brand capital.
REQUIREMENTS Knowledge •In-depth understanding of sales, business development and relationship management •Knowledge of strategic policy development and planning •Broad understanding of the utility and environmental sectors and marketplace dynamics •In depth understanding of financial management, budgetary control, and resource planning •Understanding of human resource management including industrial relations, training and health and safety •Knowledge of presiding industry legislation and company and associated law
Skills •Extensive experience of business development, marketing techniques and achieving sales targets •Exceptional resource and knowledge management skills to exploit and close sales leads •Strong interpersonal and influencing skills developed over a number of years at or near Board level •Ability to demonstrate leadership at the national and industry level •Exceptional change management; strategic thinking; leadership; management; coaching; negotiating; analysis and influencing skills •Ability to be calm, organised, diplomatic, resilient and politically aware in a high pressure environment
